Meeka Metals (ASX: MEK) Strikes Broad High-Grade Gold Below Turnberry as Drilling Targets Deeper Growth

Key Highlights
- Diamond drilling intersected 52.3 metres at 3.0g/t gold around 200 metres below the existing Turnberry underground Ore Reserve.
- Multiple high-grade intercepts suggest the gold system remains open at depth.
- Turnberry currently hosts a Mineral Resource of 690,000 ounces grading 2.0g/t gold.
- Meeka has recommenced drilling to test strike, depth extensions and the potential source of the mineralised system.
- The results could support future resource growth, although no resource increase has yet been declared.
Meeka Metals (ASX: MEK) has reported a series of broad, high-grade gold intersections beneath its Turnberry deposit in Western Australia, adding fresh momentum to its exploration program and raising the possibility that the company’s existing gold resource could extend much deeper than previously recognised.
Market Snapshot
The standout result came from hole 26TBRD002, which intersected 52.3 metres grading 3.0 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 474.1 metres, including 30.6 metres at 3.4g/t gold and 10.5 metres at 3.7g/t gold.
Additional drilling also returned 18.0 metres at 3.0g/t gold, including 9.0 metres at 5.1g/t, and 13.8 metres at 2.4g/t gold, including 4.0 metres at 5.8g/t gold.
What makes these results notable is their location. The new intersections sit about 200 metres below the existing underground Ore Reserve, suggesting the mineralised system continues well beyond the current mine plan.

That does not automatically mean Meeka’s Mineral Resource has increased. The company says further drilling and geological modelling will be needed before any additional ounces can be incorporated into future resource estimates. However, the latest results strengthen the case for continued exploration at depth.
Turnberry currently hosts a Mineral Resource of 690,000 ounces of gold at an average grade of 2.0g/t, and the company believes the newly identified mineralisation highlights the potential for significant extensions to that resource.
The geology is attracting particular attention.
Meeka said the latest drilling encountered strong shearing alongside pyrite and chalcopyrite mineralisation, features commonly associated with high-grade orogenic gold systems. The presence of chalcopyrite, observed for the first time in this area alongside strong gold mineralisation, has led the company to interpret the new zone as an intermediate level of a larger hydrothermal system.
To simply put it, geologists believe they may be drilling into a part of the system that sits above a hotter and potentially more metal-rich source deeper underground. While that interpretation remains unproven, it provides a clear focus for the next phase of exploration.
The timing is also favourable for gold explorers. Gold prices have remained near record highs in recent months as investors continue seeking safe-haven assets amid economic uncertainty and central bank buying. According to the World Gold Council, elevated gold prices have encouraged producers and developers to invest more heavily in resource expansion, with high-grade discoveries becoming increasingly valuable as miners seek to extend project life and improve future economics.
Managing Director Tim Davidson said the latest results reinforce the company’s geological model.

“Strong shearing, along with the pyrite and chalcopyrite mineral assemblage suggest we are at the intermediate level of a hydrothermal system with strong depth potential approaching a hotter, more metal-rich source.
“The broad zones of high-grade gold, far deeper than any previous drilling previously at Turnberry Central, suggest there is significantly more gold than captured by the current Mineral Resource.
“Based on these encouraging results, diamond drilling recommenced in July targeting extensions and potentially the deeper source of this high-grade gold at Turnberry Central.”
The decision to immediately resume drilling may prove just as important as the assay results themselves.
Rather than treating the latest intersections as an isolated success, Meeka is now testing whether the mineralisation continues along strike and at greater depth. If continuity is confirmed, future resource updates could potentially expand the existing gold inventory and extend the underground mine life.
For now, the latest drilling represents exploration success rather than a resource upgrade. Investors will be watching closely for follow-up results that determine whether the newly discovered mineralisation forms part of a much larger gold system beneath Turnberry.
With multiple high-grade intersections now reported below the current reserve, the next round of drilling could play a decisive role in shaping the future scale of one of Meeka’s most important gold assets.
